eHeart Travel: Peru - Ollantaytambo

We left our hostel about 5am and gave up their free breakfast (it was set up at 5.30am), because the train departs from Cusco to Aguas Calientes at 6.05am. We tried to go to the train station early to get a ticket. The office that sells the train tickets is a different location than the train station from which the train to Aguas Calientes departs. We lined up and reached the counter, showed them our online reservation, but we were told, “You can’t get the ticket for today’s train now, you have to pay at least one day in advance.”

So, at 6.05am, we took a taxi instead, and we arrived at Ollantaytambo’s train station after about 1.5hrs. We got a train ticket there to depart on the 8am train to Aguas Calientes. The service on the Vistadome is a little bit like in an airplane. The attendants pushed a cart with snacks and drinks, asking what drink you would like. The difference is you have to eat your snack and drink with your hands shaking…

The return train back to Ollantaytambo station was the same, but there was a performance in this Vistadome train…

Do you think three of us can get into this three wheels taxi? Ha! The driver nodded his head and then said, “1 person S/1, 3 persons S/3.” From Ollantaytambo train station to the hostel. We planned to stay 1 night in Ollantaytambo, but Joe was not interested in staying after the hostel we booked was full and they wanted to transfer us to another hostel! I don’t’ know what’s wrong? I hurried to snap several pictures. Do you see something on the wall of the mountain?

At this point, it is worth telling you, when traveling by train or taxi, look at the natural beauty of the mountain scenery from the window. It is so spectacular. My heart was calm, but my eyes were busy.
